Richard Harold Murdock

Richard Harold Murdock, 79, a resident of Tunnel Street passed away March 7, 2015 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Richard was born in Readsboro on March 6, 1936 the son of Harold and Barbara (Wheeler) Murdock and attended local schools. Richard worked for many years as a Milkman with North River Dairy, eventually purchasing the Dairy from his uncle Noyes Wheeler, the Readsboro Chair Shop for many years and also for Sawyer-Bentwood. He was a fifty year member of the Lions Club in Readsboro where he was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and enjoyed playing cribbage. He loved fishing, going to deer camp when he was younger, was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan and enjoyed spending time with his family. Richard is survived by his children Richard (Ricky) Murdock, Jr. of Turners Falls, Massachusetts, Randy Murdock and his wife Carol of Winchester, New Hampshire, Debra Torres and her husband Tony of Greenfield, Massachusetts and Barbara Joslyn and her husband Lawrence of Swanzey, New Hampshire, grandchildren Carrie, Justin, Danielle, Kylie, Brandon and Allen, great grandchildren Jailyn and Marisa, brothers Marlin Murdock of Texas and Allen Murdock of North Adams, sisters Brenda Holland of Bennington, Alzada Sawyer of Whitingham and Rosemarie Hodgdon of Westfield, Massachusetts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandson Randy Murdock, Jr. and his former wife Doris Murdock. Funeral services for Richard will be held in the spring at the Readsboro Baptist Church. Interment will be in the family lot in Readsboro Village Cemetery. There are no visiting hours.
