Richard James Holvey Jr

d. July 25, 2015

Jim, as he was known to all his friends and family went to his lord early Saturday morning. He departed his beloved Vermont from Grace Cottage after a ten year battle fighting MRSA. Born in Saginaw Michigan, Jim grew up in Dayton and Cleveland Ohio. He attended Kent State University, and enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War. He served four years before returning to civilian life.Jim had two careers after military life, the first following in his dad's footsteps, was in men's retail clothing. As a buyer for The Higbee Company in Cleveland, he traveled the US and Europe purchasing fine men's tailored sportswear. During this period he worked with some of the greats in the business, to include; Stanley Blacker, Oleg Cassini and Ralph Lauren. After a 20 year career in retailing, Jim enjoyed a new challenge when he began selling classic cars and new high end imports. At Rockland Porsche Audi his salesmanship helped him rise to the top and win many national and regional awards. He passed on his finely honed skills while working for Volkswagon of America as a trainer for their US program.Retiring to Vermont 17 years ago with his wife, Dora, he pursued his lifelong interests in the outdoors, fishing, antique hunting, and cooking. The natural beauty of his home in Vermont sustained him to the end. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters, a son and three grandchildren, a brother, a sister and their families, as well as numerous friends around the world. His humor never failed him, in his last year he was fond of telling everyone - "If I had known I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself". Jim was 83 years young and lived a full and wonderful life.
