Robert E. Chase Sr.

Robert E. Chase Sr., 82 a lifelong resident of Wilmington passed away Friday August 19, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchhcock Medical Center following a brief illness. Bob was born at home in Wilmington on January 17, 1934, he was the son of Roy and Edith (Adams) Chase (Batchelder).Growing up in Wilmington he attended local schools and began a lifelong career as an auto mechanic, working at E.J. Roberts Chevrolet for over 30 years , following the closing of the dealership he worked at Briggs Automotive and Greene's Service Center. Bob enjoyed following NASCAR racing and attending the races in Dover Delaware , he also enjoyed camping and splitting firewood. He leaves his wife Margaret (Broadwell) Chase whom he married on December 28, 1972, sons James Chase and wife Anna of East Dover and Roberts E. Chase Jr. of Middletown, CT , daughters Vicki Haggerty of Wilmington and Cheryl Chase of Virginia Beach, VA, brothers Roland and Larry Chase both of Wilmington, sister Ada Grant of Worcester, MA., grandchildren Ashley, Kate, Andrew , Chloe and Nate, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister Althea Drew and brother Walter Chase. Graveside services will be held on Saturday August 27 at 11am in the family lot in Intervale (Cutting) Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside service.Memorial gifts may be made to The American Lung Association in care of the Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363.
