Robert Kerry Mitchell, born August 30, 1946, died peacefully on October 21, 2017, succumbing to esophageal cancer. Kerry graduated from Haverhill High School, served in the U.S. Navy and completed his education with a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts. He took his degree in Hospitality Management and established Freestone's City Grill in 1979, after renovating the Pequod Lounge located in the Citizen's National Bank Building in New Bedford, MA and operated the restaurant for 27 years. Kerry also restored the Bourne Warehouse Building in New Bedford where he operated 2 restaurants and a retail shop. Later, Kerry had a career in in Internet Services in Jacksonville, Florida. He is survived by his mother, Kay Chapman in Boynton Beach, FL, wife, Debby, daughter Jillian, son Jamie and his wife, Jessica; sister Donna and Tom Moolic, brother Peter and Vicki Mitchell, sister Linda and Richard Torossian, brother Michael and Lisa Mitchell; nieces and nephews, Cathy Pare Duff, Tim Moolic, Jennifer Mitchell Basilio, Jessica Torossian, Kristofer and Kyle Mitchell, along with great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his best friend and constant canine companion, Ben. Kerry enjoyed a wonderful career, traveled much and enjoyed life to the fullest. He would like to be remembered as a happy guy, who loved to ski, play racquetball, and share time with family and friends, often enjoying his beloved New England Sports Teams. He also would like to spread the word about acid reflux caused esophageal cancer. Speak to your Doctor or friend now, to obtain early detection. There will be no services at this time
