Robert P. Branford, Jr., 63, a resident of Pownal, passed away January 25, 2017 at his home. Robert was born in Ohio on November 13, 1953 the son of the late Robert P. Branford, Sr. and Delores Lake. Robert graduated from High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and received his Bachelor Degree from Southern Vermont College. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran during the Vietnam era where he worked as a machinist until his discharge. He enjoyed working on vehicles, playing guitar and listening to classic rock and old country western music. He was a fan of the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees and in his earlier years enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to socialize and spend time with his family and friends. He is survived by his former wife Karen Hayes Branford of North Pownal, Son Phillip Branford of Bennington, daughter Lana Branford of North Bennington, brother Clayton Lake and his wife Candy of Maine, sister Robin Kerr of Arkansas, grandchildren Amara, Chelsea, Austin, Tori and Cameron and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-father Robert Lake, Jr and his sister Debi Cox. A celebration gathering for Robert will be held at the Pownal Valley Fire Department in North Pownal VT on March 4, 2017 at 2pm. There are no visiting hours. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Robert's memory may be made to the Pownal Rescue Squad, c/o Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 957 Bennington, VT 05201. A celebration gathering for Robert will be held at the Pownal Valley Fire Department in North Pownal VT on March 4, 2017 at 2pm.
