Robert F. Rogalski 65, former Chief of the Bennington Fire Department and a resident of East Road passed away peacefully on Friday October 9, 2020 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of Bennington, h e was born at the Putnam Memorial Hospital on September 5, 1955 to Casimir and Helen (Krawczyk) Rogalski. He graduated from Mt. Anthony Union High School in 1973. Bob was married to Penny Ennis at St. Francis de Sales Church on June 19, 1999. He had worked at Mt. Anthony Union High School from 1991 until his illness forced him to retire just recently. As a 23 member of the Bennington Fire Department , Bob served in many capacities over the years, including Captain, Assistant Chief and Chief of the Department from 2000-2001. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis De Sales Church . In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening, working on his wood pile and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves his wife Penny Ennis-Rogalski, step children Matthew DeCell of North Bennington and Monica DeCell of Bennington, siblings James Rogalski of Chapel Hill, NC and Laurie Rogalski of Bennington, three grandsons, three granddaughters , a great grandson , brother in law Jeff Betit of Bridgewater, MA, brothers in law Cubby Ennis of Sunderland and David Ennis of Sunderland, sisters in law Clara Harrington of West Rutland ,Frances Secoy of Sunderland, and Peggy Gulley of Bennington, a niece and four nephews as well as cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Joanne and Mary. Funeral services will be held at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home on Tuesday October 13 at 1pm . Burial will take place in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11am until 1pm. Members of the Bennington Fire Department are asked to meet at the Funeral Home at 11:45 for a noon walk through to pay their respects to the family.
