Robert P. Tifft

Robert P. Tifft, 83, a resident of Old West Road, passed away July 29, 2019 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Robert was born in Weston, VT on September 16, 1935 the son of the late Charles and Elsie Butler Tifft and attended local schools. Robert worked for the Hale Company in East Arlington as a furniture maker for many years. He loved working on lawn mowers and in his earlier years he enjoyed working on cars and hunting. Robert was an avid NASCAR fan following both Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. Robert is survived by his sons Malcolm Tifft of Arlington, Marcus Tifft and his wife Cindy of North Bennington and Travis Tifft of Arlington, his brother Francis Tifft of Florida, sister Eleanor Perry of Athens, VT, grandchildren Lance Tifft, Brittany Tifft and Becca Butler and his great grandson Lance Tifft, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Stone Tifft whom he married in Sunderland, VT on August 4, 1962, his son Trevor Tifft and brothers John, Charles and William Tifft and his Granddaughter Kitley Tifft . Funeral services for Robert will be held Sunday August 4, 2019 at 2pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Route 7A Arlington, VT. Interment will follow in Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland . Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held from noon-2pm, prior to the service.
