Robert C. Wright 93 resident of Chestnut Street in Brattleboro passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday December 16, 2017. The son of the late Floyd and Mae (Gaudette) Wright , he was born in Bennington VT on January 5, 1924. He grew up in Bennington where he graduated from Bennington High School, Class of 1942. While in high school, Bob enlisted in the US Army and was inducted on May 28, 1943. He served faithfully during World War II until his honorable discharge on February 22, 1946 . In 1950 he was recalled to the military to participate in the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sargent on 9/22/51. Bob attended the University of Indiana and Drexel University where he obtained his Bachelors' Degree in Civil Engineering. For 33 years Bob worked as civil engineer for the State of Vermont, Department of Transportation as District 1 engineer. He was a 53 year member of the Brattleboro Lodge No. 102 of Free and Accepted Masons and a member of the Brattleboro American Legion. Bob was an accomplished carpenter, enjoyed sailing on Granite Lake and was a collector of stamps and coins. He leaves his wife Freda (Corogenes) Wright who he married on June 7, 1953 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington, VT sons Gary Wright and wife Sue of Springfield, MA and Robert Wright and wife Kelle of San Diego, CA a daughter Pam Wright and husband Whitney Taylor of San Diego, CA sister Joanne Greene of Bennington, VT grandchildren Jon Maxwell Wright, Lucas Alexander Wright and Mallory Grace Wright. Funeral services with military honors will be held at the family lot in the Bennington Centre Cemetery at the Old First Church in the summer of 2018. Memorial gifts may be made to the Windham County Humane Society or Bayada Hospice in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201 Funeral services with military honors will be held at the family lot in the Bennington Centre Cemetery at the Old First Church in the summer of 2018.
