Ronald N. Battis 76, a resident of Chapel Road passed away at his home on Saturday morning November 7, 2015 Surrounded by his loving family. Ron was born in Clarksburg, MA on January 6, 1939, he was the son of the late Nelson R. Battis and Lillian (Pierce) Battis Senecal who survives him. He graduated from Adams (MA) High School where he was a standout on the football team as the teams quarterback. He served in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve Corps. He had worked in the plumbing and heating business throughout his life. An avid outdoorsman, Ron was well known and respected for his proficient hunting and fishing skills, his success in the wild was followed and admired by many. He had been the subject of articles which detailed his great success in the woods. In the winter he enjoyed snowmobiling. He will be remembered as "everybody's best friend". Ron married the former Patricia Ann Harwood, she died in 1998, they had three children, a son Nelson R. Battis and his partner Wendy McNeill of Bennington, daughters Laurie Leveque and husband Rich of Woodford and Jeanine Pike and husband John of NH. He is also survived by his mother Lillian Senecal of North Adams, MA, sister Jackie Felix and husband Robert of North Adams, MA, grandchildren Logan, Caleb, Shannon and Richie, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening November 11 at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home from 6-8 pm, military honors will be conducted during the visitation.Memorial gifts may be made in Ron's memory to Bennington Area VNA and Hospice in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening November 11 at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home from 6-8 pm, military honors will be conducted during the visitation
