Ruth Clough of Dorset died August 6, 2017 at Equinox Terrace in Manchester Vermont at the age of 90. Ruth was born to the late Robert E Davenport and Lena L Orkins Davenport on March 10, 1927 in Weston , VT. She graduated from Chester High School class of 1945. On June 14, 1946, she married Malcolm H Clough in Ludlow, VT and in 1947, they moved to Dorset VT where they raised their 5 children. Ruth was the Dorset School Hot Lunch chef for 3 years and for many years she made and decorated wedding cakes. She was also a nutrition aide for the University of Vermont. In later years, she was a private caregiver. Her biggest love was holidays and having all her family around her. Ruth was a member of the United Church of Dorset, a 45 year member of the Jr. Extension Homemakers, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a board member of the John Clough Society and a Chaplin and member of the MT Equinox Grange. She is survived by her children- Dorothy G. Thompson of Arlington, VT, Donald H Clough (and Linda) of Arlington, VT, Mildred C Dunn(and George) of Manchester, VT and Hiland E Clough (and Tiana) of South Londonderry, VT, 8 Grandchildren, 11 Great grandchildren and 4 Great, Great Grandchildren, Her sister, Louise Foster of Weston, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm, her son, John, her great grandson, Taylor Hill, her sister, Alice Clough, brother in laws, Robert Clough and Wayne Foster, as well as sister-in laws-Ruth Spaulding and Eleanor Emery. There will be no calling hours and memorial services will be at the United Church of Dorset on September 9, 2017 at 11am. Interment will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 at 2pm in Glebeview Cemetery in South Londonderry. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the United Church of Dorset in her memory c/o Brewster-Shea Funeral Home P.O. Box 885 Manchester Center, VT 05255. The family wishes to thank the staff at Equinox Terrace for the wonderful kindness and care to Ruth. Interment will be held Saturday September 9, 2017 at 2pm in Glebeview Cemetery in South Londonderry.
