Ruth Cressy Boodakian died peacefully on July 16th, 2015 in Portsmouth, NH. She was born at home in Malden, MA on March 2, 1923 to Dustin and Vera Cressy. During the Depression they moved to Bradford, NH where her family owned and operated the local hardware store. She graduated from Warner NH High School in 1941 and from UNH with a BS in 1945. She went on to work as a medical secretary in Boston for Dr. Elliott P. Joslin until 1949 when she married Charles Boodakian who predeceased her in 1961. Charlie brought her to Bennington, VT after a few years in Waterbury, VT when he became the choral director for the Bennington School system. She became a legal secretary for William Sennett for 20 years, then worked for Thomas Jacobs for 11 years as his secretary before "retiring". She spent her retirement years working part-time at the Bennington Free Library until age 87. She spent her last years at Kittery Estates in Kittery, ME. to be closer to her daughter before her final stop at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth, NH. She enjoyed traveling and playing bridge with her long-time close friends. She travelled to Europe and to the west coast on numerous occasions. Her joy was sharing her camp on Lake Massasecum in Bradford, NH with friends and family. She attended the 1st United Methodist Church in Bennington. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Boodakian) Duquette, son-in-law, Dennis Duquette of Eliot, ME, brother, Kenneth Cressy and wife, Ginny of Glendale, CA, nieces and nephews, Ron, Maureen and Allen, sister-in-law, Lucy Foley, niece, Suzanne of Santa Barbara, CA, cousin, Mary Ann Cofrin of Gainsville, FL, and the Bennett nieces and nephews, Mike, Robin, Linda and Carol. She was predeceased by her son, Phillip Boodakian in 2011, by her sister, Barbara Bennett, and niece, Nancy Bennett.
