Ruth L. Davis, 86, a resident of Wilmington, passed away March 9, 2017 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Ruth was born in Marlboro, VT on January 20, 1931 the daughter of the late Bertram and Marion (Poole) Akley. She received her education in Wilmington schools, graduating from Wilmington High School. In her earlier years, Ruth worked as a housekeeper for area Inns and as a Nurses Aide at Vernon Green Nursing Home. She retired from Mount Snow where she worked in Food Preparation for many years. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, reading and working on jig saw puzzles. She enjoyed ceramic painting, listening to country music, traveling to Florida and the Maine coast, and was an avid NASCAR, Boston Red Sox and Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Ruth cherished times spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a son Larry and his wife Karen of Wilmington; daughters, Carol Lewis and her husband Paul of Wilmington, Wanda Davis of West Wardsboro and Karen Farquhar and her husband Douglas of Brattleboro, sisters Bertha Akley of Brattleboro and Mary Brown of Readsboro, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and her beloved dog Benny. She was preceded in death by her husband Gene C. Davis who passed away December 11, 2015. Funeral services for Ruth will be held Thursday March 16, 2017 at 11am at Covey-Allen & Shea Funeral Home 44 East Main Street Wilmington, VT. Interment will follow in the family lot in Riverview Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Monday March 13, 2017 from 5-7pm when the family will be in attendance.
