Steven Lazelle, Sr.

Steve Lazelle of Wilmington passed away peacefully Thursday October 12th, 2017 after an extended illness with his family by his side. Steve was born December 15, 1945 in Bennington the son of Ray and Nellie (Parsons) Lazelle Sr. In September 1968 he married the love of his life Mary (Nutting) Lazelle. The couple recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his many morning coffee visits. Steve worked for the Town of Wilmington for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. Earlier jobs included gathering sap, Brattleboro Retreat, security guard, taxi driver and pumping gas. Steve loved driving the back roads looking for wildlife, especially black bears. Steve loved hunting and walking the woods of Vermont and always had a memory to share whether it was coon hunting with JD, deer hunting with Gary or Beaver or recalling the stories of the big bucks that he had gotten. Steve is survived by his wife Mary, sons John and wife Rachel (Sage), Edward and wife Jennifer (Comai) and daughter Jennifer Luczynski and husband Kuhrt, all of Wilmington, brother Ray Jr (Emma) of Halifax, Sister Judy (Ted) Brown of Marlboro, nieces Ethel and Esther of Brattleboro, grandchildren Robin, Rebecca, Skylar, Jessie, Sierra, Jonathan, Rosie (RoRo) and Kuhrt Jr. He also is survived by his Aunt June Parsons of Wilmington, special cousins Ken Parsons of Wilmington, Gary Sage of Searsburg and many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. And special in his heart was his beloved pug Toby. Services will be private, and there are no calling hours.
