Thurston O. “Tom” Mattison

Thurston O. “Tom” Mattison, 63 a passed away peacefully on Friday evening August 23, 2019 at the Vermont Veterans Home. The son of David B. and Jeanne L. (Harrington) Mattison, he was born in Bennington on January 22, 1956. Tom was a graduate of Mt. Anthony Union High School, Class of 1974. Following High School he joined the U.S. Navy where he served for three years specializing in welding. Tom had worked in many capacities throughout the Bennington area, he enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing and following NASCAR , his favorite driver being Matt Kenseth. Tom leaves his brothers David Mattison and Alan Mattison both of Bennington, sisters Sally Nolan of Milton and Betty Ayers of Huntington, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many cousins. He was pre-deceased by a sister Lori Mattison in 1963. Funeral services will be held on August 30th at 1:00pm at The Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Hone with Chaplain Kenneth Coonradt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Patient Activities Fund at the Vermont Veterans Home in care of the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, 213 West Main Street, Bennington, VT .
