Victor J. Tirrito 65, a resident of Depot Street died unexpectedly Thursday August 13, 2015 in Bennington. Victor was born in Brooklyn on September 8, 1949, he was the son of the late Victor J. Tirrito and Anna (Posa) Tirrito who survives. He was a graduate of Plain Edge High School, shortly after high school, he entered the US Navy. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he studied and then worked as an accountant, with a passion for cooking. He pursued his interest in culinary arts attending the Culinary Institute of America in New Hyde Park, graduating in 1981. He worked as a Chef in New York City before relocating to Vermont where he established his own business - Fior Ditalia, specializing in making fresh pasta for area restaurants, farmers markets and friends. He had recently added Gelato to his offerings to his customers. Victor was fluent in Italian. He enjoyed cooking for others and riding his Harley. He leaves his wife Debra (Romano) Tirrito who he married August 15, 1976 in Massapequa, NY, his mother Anna Tirrito of Beth Page, NY, son Vittorio Tirrito of San Francisco, daughters Nicole and husband John Corron of Framingham, MA and Michelle Tirrito of Farmingdale, Long Island, brother Robert Tirrito of Centerport, Long Island, grandchildren Ella and Aiden, also nieces, nephews and cousins.A service to remember his life was held at Brewster - Shea Funeral Service. Memorial gifts may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project in care of Brewster - Shea Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255. Calling hours will be held Monday August 17th from 12-2pm at Brewster & Shea Funeral Services, 34 Park Place Manchester. A Memorial Service wil be held immediately following at 2pm.
