Virginia (Gina) Couch

Virginia (Gina) Couch, 91, a resident of Royal Street, passed away Monday August 1, 2022 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Gina was born in Bennington on July 18, 1931 the daughter of the late Nicolo and Florence (Antonio) Carbonaro. She received her elementary education at the White Chapel School and graduated from Bennington High School class of 1949. She was a member of the Ben-hi Band and the Vermont State Orchestra. She was an active member of the Class Reunion Committee, organizing programs for special events. Her home, family and friends were her main interest. Her fondest hobby was working in her yard and flowers. She was an avid writer of poetry and had a passion for photography both of which earned Excellence Awards. She was employed for 27 years by M.H. Fishman Company in many capacities until the store closed in 1979. In September of 1979, she was employed at Ophthalmic Consultants, the office of Dr. James Fitzgerald and Dr, John LaPenta. After 15 years, she retired in March of 1994. Gina was an active member of AARP, Chapter 269, Young at Heart Seniors of North Bennington, American Legion Post 13 and the Congregational Church of North Bennington. Gina is survived by her sister Elizabeth Marie Carbonaro of Ingleside, California and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son Carleton P. (Buddy) Couch, Jr. and her siblings Nicolas, Frances, Joanne and Jean. A celebration of Gina's life will be held Friday August 5, 2022 at 1pm at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home 213 West Main Street Bennington, VT. Interment will follow in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery. A visiting hour at the funeral home will be held Friday August 5, 2022 from 12-1pm, one hour prior to the service.
