Wallace Henry "Wally" Lowe 78 a resident of East Dover passed away Friday evening July 14, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family following a long illness. The son of Herman B. and Lila (Brooks) Lowe, Wally was born in Jamaica, VT on June 25, 1939. He was married to the former Eleanor Bartlett on May 4, 1962, she passed away in 1999. Wally had logged in his younger years with his brothers. He worked at Mt. Snow from 1959-1964, he then went to work for the Haystack Corporation when the resort was just a dream. Wally was instrumental in cutting the first trails and installing the first T Bars and chairlifts. He went back to working for Mt. Snow when they purchased Haystack. He retired in October 2009. Wally was a volunteer with the East Dover fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing , camping and spending time with his 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Wally is survived by his daughters Laura Lowe Dowley and her husband Buster of Newfane, Regina Lowe Werner and her husband Richard of East Dover and Catherine Lowe Davern of Brattleboro. His 10 grandchildren: Jessica Mowery, Kristie Mowery, Jeremy Werner, Amy Werner, Eric Wilson, Andy Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Madyson Davern, KC Dowley and Blake Dowley. Four great grandchildren Makaila Morse, Samantha Morse, Jacoby Green and Mason Rosa. He was considered a brother to his many in laws, he also leaves many nieces, nephews , cousins, a brother Reginald, sisters Phyllis and Barbara. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers Herman Jr., Paul and David. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday July 23 at noon at the family lot in Sadawga Cemetery in Whitingham. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Windham County Humane Society or Grace Cottage Hospital-Dr. Backus Tribute Fund in care of Covey Allen & Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 215, Wilmington, VT 05363. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday July 23 at noon at the family lot in Sadawga Cemetery in Whitingham. There are no calling hours.
