Walter “Buster” Bradford Read, Jr.

Walter Bradford Read, Jr. “Buster”, 80, formerly of East Dorset, passed away December 15, 2022 at Danbury, CT Hospital. Walter was born in Rutland, VT on June 13, 1942 the son of the late Walter B. Read, Sr. and Helen Stafford. He attended local schools and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary. Walter worked for many years alongside his father at W.B. Read & Sons Builders, worked for Ted Hopkins & Sons, James Hunt Builders, Slide Supply Company and owned and operated Vermont Wood Products from his dream workshop in East Dorset. Walter was the former Fire Chief for the East Dorset Volunteer Fire Department, Instructor/Trainer for the Vermont State Firefighters Association, member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, enjoyed golf, NASCAR Racing, NFL Football and all things automotive. He is survived by his sons Michael Read (Linda) of Manchester Center, VT, Christopher Read of Seattle, Washington and David Read of Falls Church, Virginia, and brothers Thomas Read of Tamarack, Florida and Roland Read (Chong) of Valencia, California. He was preceded in death by his wife Roberta Read whom he married on June 27, 1982 in East Dorset. Funeral services for Walter will be announced at a later date.
