Wayne S. Snow, 71, of Sunderland passed away April 22, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 5, 1946 in East Dorset, the son of the late Burton J. Snow Sr. and Clara Evelyn (Grout) Snow. Wayne grew up in Sunderland on the family farm. He attended the one room school houses and then Arlington Memorial High School where he was a member of the graduating class of 1964. Right out of high school, he began working for area building contractors. Soon after he was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany after his basic training in Texas. After serving his country for two years, he was discharged and returned home to the family farm. On his return, he proudly bought himself a brand new 1968 Dodge Dart. He went back to work for various contractors, as well as raising some cattle and horses. He was a skilled builder and hard worker, building his own home from the ground up as well as a second home. He bought his materials a little at a time as he could afford, working nights and weekends on his houses while working full time. People who knew him may remember him as a man of few words. He was a quiet man who wanted nothing more than being at home and enjoying the family that he loved so dearly. He was known for "hugging and mugging" loved ones with bear hugs so intense they would take your breath away. In raising his own family, he taught his children strong work ethic and responsibility. In the summers, they could be seen haying the local fields to provide for their Holstein herd. He was always their guide to advise them; his family was his world. He always felt like the richest man on earth for being blessed with wonderful children and was beyond proud. He leaves behind his wife, Sheila (Moffitt) Snow whom he married on Oct. 26, 1985 in East Arlington, VT; his children Jeremy (Nikea Green) of Shushan, NY, Darren (Caryn) of Arlington, and Heather (Joel Secoy) of Sunderland; granddaughters Haleigh Snow and Willow and Fern Secoy; brothers Burton Snow, Jr. (Sheryll), Ronald (Fern), and Larry (Ruth) of East Arlington; sisters Marilyn Liljeberg of Shushan, NY, Janice Gordon (Harry) of Andover, Sharon Haynes (Clarence) of Middletown Springs, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
