Wendy Lea Bahan

August 4, 1960 — February 18, 2024

Wendy Lea Bahan passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a long illness. Born in Bennington at Putnam Memorial Hospital on August 4, 1960, she was youngest of five children of L. Horton and Frances (Wager) Bahan. She grew up in Chiselville, VT, attending the one-room schoolhouse, which is now Sunderland Elementary School.  After graduating from Arlington Memorial High School, she took nursing classes and worked at Crescent Manor. She later worked for Union Carbide (Dow Chemical), and Energizer for over 25 years in Production and then became a Lean & Training Coordinator. Wendy loved to bake and was known for her homemade desserts that she would share with all her loved ones.  She loved to travel to Maine and Florida. So much so that she became an expert, specifically at planning trips to Disney World.  She loved all her pets, her dogs, Snipper, Disney, and Riley, her cats Fritz, Flower, & Elsa. She is survived by her daughters Melissa Jaarsma(Stephen), Amber Bahan, and her grandchildren, Aliviah, Dante and Kendra of Arlington, sisters, Shelley Clayton (Sunderland), Sally Perkins (North Bennington), and Patricia Masi (John)(Bennington), and sister-in-law, Joy Bahan (Bennington), aunt, Pat Wager(Vergennes, VT), her close friends Mark Clayton(Bennington), Lisa Hansen(Pinellas Park, FL) and her many nieces, nephews and cousins She was predeceased by her parents, L. Horton and Frances Bahan, sister, Linda Smith, (San Tan Valley, AZ), brother, Philip Bahan (Bennington), niece, Sarah Bahan, sister-in-law, Lois Bahan, and brothers-in-law, Leon Smith and Charles Perkins. A celebration of Wendy’s life will be held at The Federated Church of East Arlington on March 9, 2024, at 11am.  Her burial will be held in the Spring with close family. The family would like to thank SWVT Medical Center’s doctors and nurses for their excellent care and Dr. Anthony Santiago of Scottsdale, AZ for all his help and medical advice.
