Willard Robertson

Willard Robertson, 88, passed away on February 18th, 2016, at his home at Fillmore Pond, Bennington, Vermont. A native of Greenwich, CT, "Will" was a longtime resident of Peru, VT. He was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel, ME, and of the University of Vermont. It was at UVM where Will met his future wife, Mary Jean Henderson. After their marriage in 1950, they moved to Michigan, living in the Detroit area and Grand Rapids, bringing up their three sons. They returned to Vermont in 1977 and settled in Peru, where they renovated and expanded Will's father's summer home. There they hosted family members and friends from around the country and pursued their interests in travel and antiques and collectables, until Mary's passing in 2007. In 2011, Willard became a resident in the assisted living community at Fillmore Pond in Bennington. He is survived by his son David and wife Norma, of San Francisco, CA; his son Peter and wife Martha, of Peru, VT; his son James and wife Susie and his granddaughters Hannah and Madeline, of Durango, CO; and by his brother David and wife Jane, of St. Albans, VT.A gathering of friends and family will take place Monday, February 29th from 3 to 5 pm at Brookdale at Fillmore Pond. Willard's cremated remains will be buried at the stone bench alongside his wife Mary in the Village Cemetery of Peru, VT.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Medical Center, 38 Vermont Route 11, Londonderry, VT 05148. A gathering of friends and family will take place Monday, February 29th from 3 to 5 pm at Brookdale at Fillmore Pond. Willard's cremated remains will be buried at the stone bench alongside his wife Mary in the Village Cemetery of Peru, VT.
