William J. Cassidy, 95, a resident of Village Lane, passed away September 25, 2021 at Brookdale Fillmore Pond. Bill was born in New York City on October 17, 1925, the son of William J. Cassidy and Mae Cassidy. He attended school in Queens, NY, and Adelphi University in Garden City, NY. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart. Bill worked as a Systems Analyst for Western Electric and then as an Executive Manager for Bell Systems Communications (NYNEX) from which he retired. Bill loved feeding the birds, automobiles, and was an avid New York Yankees fan. In his final years he enjoyed the companionship of his cat, Buddy. Bill was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Ann Cassidy, who died in 2016, and nephew Kevin Casey. He is survived by his children, Mary Woodward of Shaftsbury, James Cassidy of Shaftsbury, and Thomas Cassidy of Aiken, South Carolina; his sister Mariana Casey (Edward) of Farmington, NY, granddaughters Nettie Lettus (Brian), Mary Kate Cossin, great-granddaughter Madison Kolakowski, niece Judi Casey, and nephews Stephen Casey and Ted Casey. The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale at Fillmore Pond and Bayada Home Health Care for their wonderful care and support during Bill's final years. At Bill's request there will be no formal funeral services; a private interment will be held at a later date.
