William Edward Donegan, Jr., a resident of Route 30, passed away April 16, 2015 at Rutland Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Bill was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 22, 1928 the son of William E. and Marion (Welsh) Donegan, Sr. and attended local school. Bill served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1945-1946. He married Grace Shirley (Horn) on May 10, 1952. Bill was the proprietor of Fathson Manufacturing and William Donegan's Lake Hopatcong Real Estate Agency in New Jersey. He retired to Pawlet in 1997. Bill loved boating, swimming and skiing. He loved flying, was an active pilot and a member of the United Flying Octogenarians. He enjoyed traveling, listening to all types of music, especially Willie Nelson and jazz and piano music. He was also a member of the Rotary Club in Hopatcong N.J. and the Harned Fowler VFW in Manchester. Bill loved his home and spending time with his family. Bill is survived by his loving wife Barbara Donegan, her loving and supportive family, Sadie his constant companion, sister Elizabeth Schnable, son William E. Donegan, III and his wife Elaine, (Steven Gianoulis and his wife Karen, Lynn McCauley and her husband John) both considered as son and daughter, and their children Analise and Hailey Gianoulis and Matthew McCauley, nieces Carol Barto and her husband Daniel and Laura Barto and nephew Daniel Barto. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Shirley who died in 2005. A mass of christian death and burial will be celebrated Tuesday April 21, 2015 at 10am at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul Roman Catholic Church). Interment will follow in the family lot in Metowee Valley Cemetery in Pawlet. Visiting hours will be held Monday April 20, 2015 at Brewster & Shea Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont from 5-7pm. If friends desire, memorial gifts in Bill's memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to the charity of one's choice, c/o Brewster & Shea Funeral service P.O.
