William Baldwin Finn 91 a resident of Manchester passed away peacefully on Thursday morning February 11, 2021 at The Pines in Rutland where he had been staying. The son of Dr. Frederick and Ann (Baldwin) Finn he was born in Jersey City, NY on October 4, 1929. Bill obtained his Bachelors Degree from Mount St. Mary’s in Maryland and his MBA from Rutgers. Bill served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War where he attained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. For 20 years he had owned and operated a Sears franchise store and also owned and operated the Hillcrest Inn for four years. He was active in the Manchester community where he served as President of The Manchester Country Club, President of the Manchester Lions Club, Commander of the Harned Fowler V.F.W. Post for four years, Commander of the American Legion Post 44 and a member of the Town of Manchester Select Board where he was Chair for two years. Bill was on the Board of Directors for the Manchester Rescue Squad and Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed sports, playing football and baseball while in college and later in life, golfing. Bill leaves his daughter Carol Finn of Boulder, Colorado, a son Greg Finn of Erie, Colorado, three grandchildren-- Cameron Olson, Ryan Finn and Liam Brod, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (McGrath) Finn in 1970, a son Richard Finn, brothers Fred and Frank Finn and sister Isabel. A service with Military Honors for Bill will be held later in the summer at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset. Memorial gifts in his memory may be made to American Legion Post 44 in care of the Brewster-Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
