Bradford A. West, a lifetime resident of Mt. Aeolus Lane, passed quietly at his home on Monday March 19, 2018 in the company of his children, he was 84. The son of Lewis A. and Cora (Norse) West, he was born in Manchester on July 4, 1933. He attended local schools and graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary as Salutatorian , Class of 1951. In 1953, at the age of 20, Brad had the honor of presenting the 4H flag to President Eisenhower at the Eastern States, representing all of New England. Brad was a lifelong farmer, and upon retiring from farming, he stayed busy working at the Sunderland School and driving school bus for Sunderland and Dorset. He enjoyed being outdoors , he loved working in is gardens and doing his own canning and he also enjoyed hunting. Brad had been a Boy Scout leader, was very active in 4-H and the Grange, and was a member of the Eagles. He leaves his children Vernon West of Manchester Center, Hope Slade of Poultney, Melissa West of Bennington, Coleen West of Manchester, Dawn Dorr of Manchester, Adin West of Randolph and Todd West of Manchester, a brother James West of Manchester, 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Mary (McCory) West. There will be a celebration of his life at his home on May 26, 2018 at noon. Memorial gifts may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society in care of Brewster-Shea Funeral Home, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
