Charlotte M Gates

Charlotte M. Gates 86 a longtime resident of Pownal passed away peacefully at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for the past two years. Born in Chelsea, MA on March 3, 1934, Charlotte was one of 13 children born to George F. and Emily (Gillis) Jordan Sr. . She married Christopher W. Gates Sr. on January 17, 1954, he died September 5, 2008. After raising her five children she went to work at Tansitor Electronics (Vishay) in Bennington retiring as Shipping Manager after 20 years with the company. Charlotte was the happiest when she was with in her home and with her family, she will be remembered as a true “homebody”. She leaves her sons Christopher W. Gates Jr. , George Gates and Nicholas Gates all of Bennington, daughter Deborah George and husband John of Pownal , 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Rose Weber who died August 19, 2020 and son in law and Gary Weber as well as her 12 siblings. She and her husband Chris, will be laid to rest with a private family service in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery .
