Edith Lillian Spiesicke, 94 passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 19, 2017, surrounded by her beloved family and close friends. Born in Oslo, Norway on March 29, 1923, she was the daughter of Anker and Lillian (Harvei) Evje. Edith enjoyed telling old family stories, getting her hair done by her granddaughter and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she adored. She also enjoyed going shopping, taking care of her plants and flowers, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and her soap operas. She loved traveling to her summer home in the Catskill Mountains with her husband Wilhelm, a place she called Holmenkollen. Edith loved her summer home because the mountains reminded her of her home in Norway. Edith and Wilhelm were married for 44 years before his passing in 1988. He was truly the love of her life. She leaves her grandchildren Jeannie Flanagan of West Dover, VT and Christopher Spiesicke and his wife Carolyn of Ossining, NY, great grandchildren Erica Flanagan, Lillian Marchese and Vanessa Marchese all of West Dover, VT, her brother Ingeman Harvei and his wife Unni of Olso, Norway, her longtime family friend Nancy Schneier of Valley Stream, NY, her friend David Stone of Ossining, NY, close friends John Harwood of Bennington, VT, Nicole Fernot, Morrow Bernard both of West Dover, VT. Edith will return to her native Norway where she will be laid to rest in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery. She will truly be missed by her family that she loved so much.
