Henry Wheeler

Henry Harold Wheeler, 84, of Wilmington passed away Wednesday, May 9th at the Southwestern Vermont Hospital after a period of failing health. He was born August 27, 1933 in Readsboro to Harold and Rena (Lawson) Wheeler. Henry attended Wilmington Schools and the Vermont Agricultural College in Randolph Center. Henry and Carrie Bartlett were married at the Wilmington Baptist Church on October 23, 1954. Together they operated the Wheeler Farm, where they raised their seven children. Besides being a dairyman, he was a sugarmaker, home builder and entrepreneur. He was an honorable and fair man, always willing to help out his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed visiting with folks and had a good sense of humor. He was a member of the Wilmington Baptist Church, a founding member of the Deerfield Valley Stump Jumpers and the River Valley Riders. Besides his wife of nearly 64 years, he is survived by his five sons and their wives Martin and CarolAnn Wheeler of Winchester, NH, John and Elizabeth Wheeler of Wilmington, Douglas and Jackie Wheeler of Wilmington, Robert and Karen Wheeler of Wilmington, Paul and Lisa Wheeler of Wilmington, his 2 daughters, Diane Wheeler and Todd Batchelder of Thornwood, NY and Janet Hubbard of Brattleboro, his 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey Wheeler, Megan Crowley, Nancy Wheeler-Sage, J. William Wheeler, Marc -Andre Duhaime, Carrie Wallace, Travis Wheeler, Andrea Wheeler, Matthew Hubbard, Joshua Hubbard, Tanya Wheeler and Shiane Wheeler Great grandchildren Sadie, Axton, Maverick, Arianna, Ethan, Perrin, Tucker, Liam, Trentin, Jackson, Alexsis and Jonathan. He was predeceased by his parents, three grandchildren; Caroline and Jessica Wheeler and Christopher Duhaime.
